About COP15 in Copenhagen 2009

At the Climate Change Conference in Bali, Parties to the UNFCCC decided to launch formal negotiations on a strengthened international deal on climate change, and adopted a set of decisions known as the Bali Road Map. These negotiations are set to be concluded by the end of 2009 at the Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen. The aim is for the Copenhagen deal to enter into force by the end of 2012, when the first commitment period of the Kyoto Protocol expires.

The important COP 15 is will be held in Copenhagen 7-18 December 2009 the weeks after the ISWA and DAKOFA Waste and Climate Conference

What is a COP?  - COP stands for Conference of Parties. It is the highest body of the United Nations Climate Change Convention and consists of environment ministers who meet once a year to discuss the convention’s developments.
